Helen Wyler finished her BSc and MSc in Psychology at the University of Bern. Subsequently, she completed her PhD at the University of Bern on the detection of intentional and prevention of unintentional false statements under the supervision of Prof. Dr. em. M. Oswald. After working as a Lecturer in Forensic Psychology at Birmingham City University in the United Kingdom for several years, Helen Wyler started a position in research and teaching at the Forensic-Psychiatric Service, University of Bern, before commencing her post at Lucerne. Her research interests focus on the psychology of innocent suspects, investigative interviewing to detect deception, and eyewitness memory. She is also interested in decision-making and cognitive biases in the legal context and current topics at the intersection of psychology, psychiatry, and the law.
